The requirements were basically just "write a 2 to 3+ page paper about a subject related to Complex Analysis". More precisely, it was to use what we had learned and relate it to a topic that interests us. It wasn't meant to be rigorous or anything. Since it was an Extra Credit project, I took a chance on my J matrix. I was just going for a super-simple example to see if I was getting it right. I ended up getting all of the extra credit points on it, so I'm guessing my J was a-ok.I still can't shake the feeling I did something wrong with that matrix, though.
...Anyway...
I thought it was fun to be able to dip my toes in the Symplectic pool. It's nothing mind-blowing (in fact, I'd call it dead-basic), but I enjoyed researching the material & writing the paper. It was fun to see/test how much I actually understood the course work AND a more advanced subject.
I probably won't get a chance to write a paper this summer, but this is sort of a nice "in lieu of..." kind of thing.
